  • Welcome to the EU-DEEP project

Since January 2004, the R&D teams of eight European energy utilities have joined to develop transparent and efficient business models that will enable, from 2010 on, the operation of various types of Distributed Energy Resources (DER).

Their collective work leads to the pieces of new technical and economic knowledge required to address properly the challenges brought by DER to the entire power system, including an in-depth analysis of customer segments' energy needs and the study of DER impacts on distribution and transmission networks.

These energy utilities propose innovative business models allowing the optimal integration of local DER units into the global dynamics of the European power markets. The various proposals are validated by experimental tests, which result into new regulatory and pricing concepts which value the contribution of DER to the whole power system.

The EU-DEEP project is coordinated by GDF-SUEZ, and brings together the R&D skills of 41 partners. The project has a total budget of €30m, half of which being funded by the European Commission Sixth Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development.

It is due to end by June 2009.
